Warriors Fall to Gyrenes

NAPLES, Fla. – The Webber baseball team traveled to Naples to take on the Ave Maria Gyrenes Thursday night and fell short losing the game 9-5.
Ave Maria scored six times in the first inning and the Warriors found themselves behind the eight ball and playing catch-up once again. This time though, the deficit was too much and as Webber could not muster a rally.
Leading the way for Webber at the plate was Ryan Jamison who notched another multi-hit game picking up two singles and driving in a run. Jose Ramos, Darin Jones, Shawn Mayhew, Nate Goldstein, and Tito Carrillo all added hits in the contest.
On the mound for the Warriors, Dominic Murray started and couldn’t get out of the first inning and didn’t get any help from his defense as he gave up six runs and only got one out before Jesse Wiggington took over a tossed four and two thirds scoreless innings. Ryan Gibbard then came on and threw two innings and gave up three runs before Sean Bryant threw a perfect inning.
The Warriors have the weekend off and will take the diamond again next Wednesday when they travel to Naples for a rematch against Ave Maria with the first pitch of a doubleheader scheduled for 3 pm.
