Dade City, Fla. - The Lady Warriors earned a split against DII St. Leo University Monday evening and raised their overall record to 2-1 on the year.

In game one Webber traded scoreless innings with the Lady Lions until the 6th inning when WIU finally broke through.   After Joy Fuller led off the inning with a double to left field, Shauna Ward singled up the middle and advanced to second on the throw.

With two outs, Rachael Jackson singled through the left side to bring in the eventual game winning run. St. Leo threatened in the 7th when a walk and a single put runners on 1st and 2nd with only one out. But Erin Holland put an end to the threat when she caught a fly ball in right and made a perfect throw to Shauna Ward at third to gun down the advancing runner.

The Lady Warriors pounded out 8 hits against the Lions including 3 doubles. Leading the offensive charge was Rachael Jackson who went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Shauna Ward also went 1 for 2 with a walk and a double. Joy Fuller was 1 for 4 and doubled in her 3rd consecutive game.

Kristen LeFan had an extraordinary outing on the mound for the Lady Warriors. She earned the complete game, shutout win in impressive fashion, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 14 and raising her season record to 2-0.

In the nightcap the Warriors continued their solid hitting as they collected 7 hits, but just couldn't seem to string enough together to produce any runs. The Lady Warriors had scoring opportunities in each of the first 6 innings, but some solid defensive plays turned in by the Lions stopped the Warriors each time. While the Lady Warriors outhit the Lions 7-6, they ended up on the wrong side of a 7-0 loss.

Offensively for the Lady Warriors' Krystan Mahowald led the charge going 3 for 3. Joy Fuller stroked her 4th double in as many games, and the Lady Warriors showed their patience at the plate while drawing 5 walks. Shauna Ward and Kristen Stewart each went 1 for 2 at the dish.

Kristen Stewart took the mound for the Lady Warriors and was tagged with the loss. Of the 7 runs scored, only 4 were earned as Stewart was the victim of some sloppy play behind her in the field. The Lady Warriors committed an uncharacteristic 3 errors that led to 3 of the Lions runs. Stewart finished with 7IP, 6 hits, 5 walks and 1 strikeout.

The Lady Warriors will take to field again on Saturday as they travel to DII opponent Florida Southern. Game times are at 1 and 3 in Lakeland.
