The United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championship post season play began March 13, in Allentown, Pa., for 64 collegiate bowling programs throughout the country.

Among the 64 teams vying for the national championship are the men's and women's teams at Webber International University. This is the second year the Warriors have had a men's bowling team. Last year's team placed third at the national championships in its inaugural season.

The Collegiate Nationals are held in qualifying sectionals held in Las Vegas, Peoria, Ill., Chattanooga, Tenn., and Allentown, Pa. On March 14, the No. 5-ranked WIU men's team jumped from sixth place to first. The Warriors trailed Rochester Institute of Technology by 149 pins entering the day; after 16 games, the RIT lead was narrowed to 128.

However, the last 16 games were dominated by the Warriors, who knocked down 3,555 pins, averaging 222 per game; winning the sectional by more than 250 pins.

The Lady Warriors, in its inaugural season, are seeded No. 4 in the Allentown, Pa., sectional. The Lady Warriors are currently ranked fifth in the nation; the men are ranked sixth in the Bowling Writers Association of America poll.

The top four teams in each division at each sectional will advance to the 2010 USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships, which will be held April 14-17 at the El Paso, Texas Convention and Performing Arts Center.
