BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber baseball team defeated the Buckeyes of Ohio State University 9-0. The NCAA Div I Buckeyes are ranked as high as 17th in some NCAA Division I polls.
This is the second Division I school that the Warriors have faced in their history and the first win. Defeating the Buckeyes runs Webbers record to 18-16 overall.
As for the game, Webber seemed to come out extra motivated after dropping two conference games on the weekend. They jumped out on top with a run in the third inning and never looked back. The Warriors tallied three more in the fifth, two in the sixth, and three more in the seventh. With good outings from eight of the Warriors pitchers keeping the shutout intact, Webber seemed to be in control the entire game.
Leading the way for the Warriors at the dish was freshman Billy Farrell who had three hits, two RBI, and a run scored. Ryan Jamison drove in two on two hits while Carlo Galluccio and Tito Carrillo each collected two hits.
Will Arnold started the game on the mound and tossed his two scheduled innings only allowing one hit. Mark McLeod then came on for his inning and was perfect as was Dominic Murray who followed McLeod. Omar DeJesus, Chris Kirk, Jason Benkert, Ryan Gibbard, and Galluccio each threw an inning and allowed only three hits between them.
The Warriors will continue their conference play tomorrow as they host the Eagles of Embry Riddle with the first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
