Warriors Tune-Up for Conference Championship

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Miami Alumni Invitational this past weekend at the Cobb stadium track and field complex.
The men's 4x100m relay team highlighted the day for the Warriors as they hit the “A” standard for nationals after running 41.63 seconds, which was good enough for third place overall. The foursome consisted of James Campbell, David Hunter, Steven McGinley and Malcolm Solomon.
Three out of the four 4x100m relay members competed in the 200m dash. Solomon (22.07 seconds) ran a new personal best time, Campbell (22.09 seconds) ran a season best time and Hunter (22.36 seconds) also competed in the 200m dash.
In the shot put junior Kevin Lacy tossed a season best throw after throwing 13.03m, which was good enough for 6th place overall.
Triple Jumpers Joshua Perkins and Michael Brun placed second and third after leaping 13.35m and 12.54m respectively. Brun also competed in the long jump where he placed 4th with a leap of 6.74m.
On the women's side senior Sarah Long stayed consistent with her past performances as she competed in the 100m dash and the 200m dash, running 12.18 seconds and 24.98 seconds respectively. Long has already qualified for nationals with an “A” standard in both events.
Senior Anna Wallace hit the “B” standard for nationals in the 100m hurdles, after running a season best time of 15.12 seconds
Katheana Jean-Baptiste ran a season best time in the 400m dash, after running 1:02.43 seconds.
“This was a nice tune-up meet for the conference championships,” stated third year head coach Terrell Griffin.
The Warriors are next in action on Sunday April 18th as they take part in The Sun Conference track and field championships, which will be held on the campus of Embry-Riddle University.
