BABSON PARK, Fla. –The Warriors men's and women's track and field teams concluded their seasons on Saturday May 29, 2010, at the 59th Annual Men's and the 30th Annual Women's Outdoor National Championships. The women finished tied for 51st place as Sarah Long scored two points for the Lady Warriors.
On the men's side the team failed to get a team score as none of the Warriors finished in the top eight. Even with no one making the finals, the Warriors still had success as David Hunter set a new school record in the 200m dash after running 21.31 seconds. Hunter advanced to the semi-finals, but failed to qualify for the finals; finishing the event in fourteenth place.
Jonathan Mott made his marathon debut at the national meet. Mott set a new school record in the event after placing twelfth with a time of 2:40:57.80 over the 26.2 mile course. After running an unofficial school record time of 40.79 during the semi-finals, the men's 4x100m relay was disqualified for an apparent exchange zone violation.
Sarah Long set new school records in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash, after running 11.89 seconds and 24.62 seconds respectively. Long qualified for the semi-finals of the 100m dash, but did not make the finals after placing twelfth overall. In the 200m dash Long had success as she qualified for the finals of the 200m dash, where she finished seventh overall.
Juline Brice competed in both the 1500m run and the 5,000m run. Brice failed to advance to the finals in the 1500m, having run 4:44.95 in the semi-finals; which was good enough for fourteenth overall. Brice did qualify for finals in the 5,000m after running 18:19.79 in the prelims. Brice finished in tenth place after running 18:25.79.
“Overall the trip was a success” stated head coach Terrell Griffin. “I am extremely proud of the seven athletes that made the journey to Indiana.”
