BABSON PARK, Fla. -The Webber International University men's and women's cross country teams began their quest of improving on last year's performances at The Sun Conference championships as they took part in the Tampa Early Bird Classic, in Dover, Florida on Friday. The Warriors finished sixth overall and the lady Warriors finished fourth out of ten participating teams.
The event began with the men toeing the line first to compete in the four mile race.
Jonathan Mott was the first Warrior to cross the finish line as he finished 5
th overall with a total time of 22:52.34. Second across the line was
Eric Kieffer (47
th) in 25:38. Following closely behind were
Zach Lee,
Justin Perkins, and
Danny Milligan, finishing 50
th, 52
nd, and 57
th respectively. Also competing for the Warriors were freshman
Mateo Carreno and redshirt senior
Steven Moroney.
On the women's side, two time national qualifiers
Juline Brice and Deborah Reibach led the charge for the lady Warriors as Brice finished second overall with a total time of 18:32 and Reibach finished 22
nd overall with a time of 21:12. Also competing for the Lady Warriors were
Sarah McCain (22:12),
Stephanie Lucas (22:55),
Fallon Mayer (23:26),
Samantha Lee (24:59) and Barbara Mendes (29:08).
The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, September 18, 2010, as they travel to Gainesville, Fla. to take part in the Florida Mountain Dew Invitational.
