Championship at NAIA ITA Florida Region

Daytona Beach, FL - Webber's Laura Nowak suffered a tough 3-set defeat in the first round of the 2011 NAIA_ITA Florida Region Tennis Tournament. Undaunted, Nowak bounced back by winning four consecutive matches and claimed the consolation championship. In the finals Nowak had to face her team-mate, and doubles partner, Julija Stojkavska. Nowak pulled out a hard fought pro-set match 9-7.
 
A Webber team made it to the Back Draws finals in doubles. Nathalia Chaddad and Leticia Tomb, both from Brazil, fought to the final. Unfortunately, they faced the #1 team from St. Thomas University and fell 8-2.
 
“Our girls had a tough start at the ITA, but we did keep fighting and won our share of matches in the back-draw,” stated Coach Bill Heath. “We have a lot of improvement to do, but that is what the fall is for,” added Heath.
