Webber Performs Well in Men’s 2011 Sun Conference Championship

AVE MARIA, Fla. – Despite Embry-Riddle Eagles Men's Cross Country squad claiming their seventh consecutive Sun Conference title, the Webber Warriors had a strong showing at The Sun Conference Championship meet.

Paced by sophomore Brandon Scott's (27:20.56) 7th place finish, the Warriors finished fourth as team (104) behind Embry-Riddle (29), SCAD (32), and USCB (79).  Rounding out the team's effort were freshmen Gabriel Barron (28:11.43) for 17th place, junior Eric Kieffer (29:17.32) 23rd, sophomore Mateo Carreno (29:34.39) 24th, junior Justin Perkins (29:49.17) 25th, and freshmen Deion Cossio (30:17.67), Dante Westwood (31:29.26) finished 27th and 31rst respectively.    

Embry-Riddle totaled (29) points, edging SCAD (32), USCB (79), Webber International (104) and Warner (172) all finished in the top five. Johnson & Wales (265), Ave Maria (272), St. Thomas (273) and Florida Memorial (293) finished sixth through ninth respectively.
