TAMPA, Fla. - Sophomore in class, but freshman in the sand,
Casey Sawyer won on October 8, 2011 the Rockstar Beach Volleyball Series on Crabby Bills sand court, where he played with Taylor Roppolo, who will be part of the Warriors' beach team in the upcoming 2012 Spring semester.
Casey Sawyer and Taylor Roppolo defeated JJ Colina and Greg Baltz in the finals where it was best out of three matches; however, they beat them in mere two matches (21-15 and 21-12). It was a very windy day; the athletes had to find a way to use the wind to their advantage.
Casey Sawyer, a smart beach player, placed the ball in places where it was difficult for the opponent to dig it because
Casey Sawyer used the wind to his advantage.
Casey Sawyer and Taylor Roppolo are leading the Rockstar point system with 54 points, while another notable player from the Warriors,
Dusan Spasic, is tied for sixth place with 26 points. For a full player standing click on the
