Lake Wales, Fla. – Webber International University will be hosting the 18th Annual Webber Men's Invitational this weekend at the Lake Wales Country Club. In conjunction with the men's tournament WIU will also be hosting the 11th Annual Webber Women's Invitational. Practice rounds for all competitions will be held on Saturday September 24, 2011.
Tournament play begins Sunday for all teams with an 8:00 am shotgun start. The men's teams will complete 36 holes (2 rounds) on Sunday, while the women will play 18 holes. Play resumes on Monday with an 8:00 am shotgun start with 18 holes scheduled for all golfers.
Men's team competing are: Webber International, Brevard Community College, College of Coastal Georgia, Faulkner University (Ga.), Northwood University, Saint Thomas University, Thomas University (Ga.), USC-Beaufort, Southeastern University, and Warner University.
Women's teams competing are: Webber International, Faulkner University (AL), Northwood University, SCAD Atlanta (Ga.), and Warner University.
“This will be a great opportunity for our local golf enthusiast to come out and watch some quality golf. The quality of play in NAIA golf is extremely high and these student-athletes are fun to watch,” stated WIU Head Golf Coach, Nancy Nichols. Spectators are welcome and there is not an admissions charge. Lake Wales Country Club is located on Highway 60 East in Lake Wales.
