Babson Park, FL - The men's and women's track and field teams opened up their indoor campaign over the weekend, taking part in the U. of Florida Gator Invite.  The Warriors competed alongside several Division I opponents, in addition to several conference schools including: Embry Riddle, Florida Memorial, and Warner.

On the women's side, senior Stephanie Lucas ran a indoor lifetime best time in the 3k (11:54.77).  Also competing were sophomore Lesha Livingston in the 55m and freshman Amanda Stoll who made her debut for the Green and Gold competing in the high jump and 55m hurdles.

The Warrior men were led by sophomore Brandon Scott, who along with two of his teammates broke the school indoor mile record.  Scott's time (4:33.7) along with Jeffrey Surran (4:36.9) and Gabriel Barron (4:37.) all eclipsed the old mark of 4:42 set by former Warrior Chad Hannah during the 2008 season.  Mateo Carreno and Eric Kieffer also opened their indoor seasons running the mile and 800m races respectively.  Carrying the baton for the sprinters were Mike Brun and Johnathan Hatcher, who both competed in the 55m races.  Brun also competed in both the long and triple jumps, making the finals in the long, placing 4th overall.

Next up for the Warriors will be a quick trip up the I-4 corridor to visit conference foe Embry-Riddle to take part in their In/Outdoor Challenge.  The meet will take place on campus with running events starting at 11am and field events beginning at noon.
