Coach Edfors starts his 8th season overseeing Webbers volleyball program. During his time with the university, he has turned the program from a 12 person indoor team in 2005 to an army of both indoor and beach players numbering close to 50. Edfors started the first collegiate beach program in the county in 2009 which offered beach scholarships to both male and female athletes and is still running the only collegiate men’s beach team. The program is designed for both undergrad and MBA students and has even pulled in a few pro’s that wanted to go back to school while playing and training the game they love. After running the indoor program for the past seven years with a 163 win to a 64 loss record he now relinquishes a majority of the indoor program to his last years assistant Brian Goodhind. Edfors stated he wanted to focus a majority of his time with his beach program and with 30+ players he knows his plate will be full.
Some of Edfors Top accomplishments:
2005 - Took current program from a 6 & 23 record to a 28 & 7 record his first year in
2007 - Second place in The Sun Conference + Sun Conference Coach of the Year
2008 – First place in The Sun Conference taking team to nationals (Ranked top 20 in country)
2009 – Started the first collegiate beach team in the country to offer scholarships
2011 - Second place in The Sun Conference
2012 – Many beach open wins and 1st time taking two athletes to AVP in Cincinnati to participate.
First place in the Fiesta on Siesta Beach Tourney in the senior division which sent team to
California where they ended up placing 3rd in the Collegiate National Championship. The team also took 2nd overall in the collegiate division with 26 teams representing.
